Bookies make Kate Atkinson Strong Favourite For The Costa Book Of The Year
With the 2013 Costa Book Awards only four days away, the latest odds from bookmakers William Hill have novelist Kate Atkinson, winner of the Costa Novel Award, as strong favourite for the Costa Book of the Year with Life After Life, set in wartime Britain, at 11-8.
Should Atkinson win the overall prize, she would become the first female writer to take the Book of the Year twice. She first won in 1995 for her debut novel, Behind the Scenes at the Museum. Seamus Heaney and Ted Hughes are the only two writers to have achieved the double to date.
