From The Save TVNZ 7 team
The online petition hit 10,000 (with a bullet) and
we've formed committees around the country working hard on the next phase of
the campaign - public meetings, emails and newspaper advertising - with the aim
of making people think about public service TV and convince the Government to
do a u-turn on TVNZ 7 funding. Much of our activities cost money so, as much as
we hate to, we're asking
for your financial help.
We need your help now.
Please donate a few dollars (or more) to Save TVNZ 7 and help us spread the word.
We can't ask SkyCity or Kim Dotcom for anonymous donations. All we have is our thousands of supporters, so please help us with a donation. We promise to spend your money wisely, trying to keep public service TV alive.
Please send donations to the Save TVNZ 7 bank account.
38-9006-0783529-04 and please put 'donation' in the details.
Yes, we are totally non-profit and none of us are being paid but we're not a registered charity so we can't give donators a tax receipt, sorry.
The Save TVNZ 7 Online Petition now at 17,000 (well, last time we looked, it was 17,090. It's probably more now)
Thank you everyone who signed the petition and then told their mates. It's given the Save TVNZ 7 campaign real strength. Naturally, we're now thinking about the next target - 20,000. So please, forward this email to everyone you know and tell people - public service TV could be about to die and we have to save it. Go to www.savetvnz7.co.nz for more information.
Have Your Say
Getting the issue on the agenda is important. It means politicians get in behind, commentators discuss it and more Kiwis think about what's happening to our TV options. You could say the issue is trending right now - people are talking about TVNZ 7 and why it's important to New Zealand: "it reflects NZ culture", "has quality TV shows", "it's made for the audience and not for advertisers", "it's respectful", and some people just want to keep watching Back Benches. We get so many emails from people just venting their frustration at the closure of TVNZ 7 (some of whom actually think we are TVNZ 7). We think it's time for people to express their views to the people who make the decisions. You're all so passionate and convincing it's kept us going, so thank you, but it also might convince the decisionmakers. So please, instead of telling us how much you'll miss TVNZ 7, tell these guys:

The channel may be able to survive if it can find major sponsors for programs - whose brief messages appear at the start and at the end. most people should be able to tolerate that, unlike the constant interruptions (and reduced editorial time) that for example the 6 pm news on TV1 and 3 get, and for which reason I never watch.
