Auckland, New Zealand - 21 May 2012 - Penguin Group (NZ), in
conjunction with New Zealand
app developer Kiwa Media, is delighted to announce that their popular Hairy
Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy App for iPad has been updated to include
Australian Sign Language (Auslan) among its featured languages.
Jeff
Atkinson, Head of New Media at Penguin Group (NZ) says, “We are thrilled to be
involved in this project and it is fitting that the Hairy Maclary from
Donaldson’s Dairy App for iPad, featuring one of New Zealand’s most popular and
indeed, internationally successful children’s stories, is the first to be
updated in Auslan. Deaf children will now be able to read and enjoy Hairy
Maclary on iPad alongside their hearing friends, siblings and classmates.”
Rhonda
Kite, Managing Director of Kiwa Media added, “I am extremely proud of the
technical success we have achieved that will enable thousands more children
here and around the world to enjoy the Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy App
for iPad. In partnering with Penguin we
have taken an important step forward in applying digital techniques for the
benefit of those with the need for access to translated materials/resources."
The
Auslan update for Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy App is available for free
from the App Store on iPad or at www.itunes.com/appstore.
