Tuesday Poem and the body

This week, the Tuesday Poem hub hosts a poem about the body by a poet who lived and wrote in Edinburgh - Rob McGonigal. Selected by Janis Freegard, it's called 'This New Place' and begins:

Body as Road Map

Body sees the 'you are here' sign,
then finds alleyways
and highways, which connect
the limbs and torso.

In the sidebar are 30 poets with their Tuesday Poems - another poem about the body 'Magnificence' by Mary McCallum is one of them, and then you can find a poem about aloneness and terror: Tim Jones' response to the Christchurch Quake is called 'Landlines'. Helen Lowe posts a William Carlos Williams poem to express how she feels post-earthquake. To find other earthquake-related poems and posts on TP simply use the search tool in the sidebar.

There are so many more poems bursting out of their skins in TP this week: a provocative look at symbols and words and their meanings from avant-garde poet Orchid Tierney is one of them, a poem by Australian poet Chris Wallace-Crabbe hosted by Jen Compton is another. As the day rolls on the northern hemisphere poets will post their Tuesday Poems.
Go and shake a Tuesday Poet's hand today.
