Matakana Village goes in to bat for Lyttelton

Matakana Village retailers are putting on a fundraising film screening of THE FIGHTER on Sunday 13th March, to help the people of Lyttelton who have been affected by the February 22nd Earthquake.

The fundraiser, which will be held at Matakana Cinemas, is an example of the sincere desire of small communities around New Zealand to contribute to the relief effort.
All products and services have been donated, including wine from The Vintry sourced from Canterbury Vineyards, canapés from Matakana Market Kitchen, Matakana Cinemas is donating the use of the cinemas, and all raffles and spot prizes are donated from businesses in the area.
This ensures that 100% of the proceeds from both the raffles and the ticket price can be presented to the Lyttelton Community Timebank via the Bank of New Zealand.

Various retailers have raffles in store including Piece Gallery, Red Letter Day, Damask, Noir Blonde, Heavenly Soles, and The Love Shack.
Prizes include a $1600 John Ecuyer paddle, an $1100 Montblanc limited edition Charles Dickens pen, jewellery, handbags and hair products. All raffles will be available for viewing, and winners will be drawn on the night.
"As a small village we feel a great need to help another community not dissimilar to our own” says event organizer Lindy Macdonald, a retailer in the Matakana Village.
There is also a connection through Matakana’s newest retailer Caro Alison, owner of Lyttelton based business DUAL. Angela Stechman, owner of the Love Shack, who spent her childhood in Lyttelton and has a lot of family there says “Lyttelton is a neat little community not unlike our own, and everyone is really friendly”.

Tickets are $35 and can be purchased from: Matakana Cinemas, De Lovely, Red Letter Day, Heavenly Soles, Cinema, Village Bookshop, Damask, Noir Blonde and Piece gallery. Ticket price includes a complimentary glass of wine and canapés. All proceeds will go to the Lyttelton Community Timebank via BNZ at the consultation of the Lyttelton community who Caro Allison from Dual says are “Overwhelmed” by the efforts of the people of Matakana.
