Lord Jeffrey Archer to raise funds for The Bishops’ Emergency Appeal for Christchurch
Auckland, 07 March, 2011: Lord Jeffrey Archer will address a public audience at The Holy Trinity Cathedral in Auckland in a fundraising effort for the Bishops’ Emergency Appeal for Christchurch.
Archer, who is in New Zealand this month to promote the release of his forthcoming novel, Only Time Will Tell, and to raise funds for New Zealand charity Cure Kids, was shocked and saddened to hear news of the earthquake devastating a city he has visited on numbered occasion.
Archer has raised more that ten million pounds for charity in the last decade and when approached by The Holy Trinity, was keen to do all he could to help the people of Christchurch.
Lord Archer’s New Zealand based publicist Jane Symmans said, “Jeffrey was adamant that the call for assistance be satisfied in New Zealand’s hour of great need. Macmillan Publishers is delighted to offer the people of Auckland an opportunity to be entertained by such a dazzling talent in support of a city suffering.”
Archer has sold over 250 million books worldwide and is expected to delight and entertain guests from all walks of life with tales from House of Commons, the House of Lords and two years’ incarceration in Her Majesty’s prison system.
The Anglican Church’s Dean of Auckland Jo Kelly-Moore is to host the fundraising event, which will be held at The Holy Trinity Cathedral, 446 Parnell Road, Auckland, on Saturday 19 March at 7.30pm.
Admission to the event will be $20 on he door, and 100% of proceeds will be donated to the Bishops’ Emergency Appeal for Christchurch.
