Abla’s Lebanese Kitchen $55
Abla Amad opened her restaurant in Carlton in 1979 and it has become a Melbourne institution. We are loving her new book – Abla’s Lebanese Kitchen.
Black Dog Cottage $45
Is this our favourite book of the summer? It has to be in the top 5. Written by Wellington Chef Adie McLelland – it draws inspiration from her two favourite places. The Greek island of Hydra and Maungakuri Beach in Hawkes Bay. From the Aegean Lamb to the “Greeky” Aubergine, Coriander & Roasted Walnut Salad, picking a favourite dish is just too hard.
In Memory. Rose Gray
It was with great sadness that we read earlier in the week that Rose Gray, co-founder of the River Café, and co-author of the wonderful River Café Cookbooks had passed away at the age of 71. Her full obituary is available to read at: http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2010/feb/28/rose-gray-obituary
Tagines – Back in Store (again)! $140
Made by Auckland potter Mike Donaldson, these are not only completely functional – they are works of art. No two are the same, and choosing a favourite is impossible. The first batch sold out before we could write about them, but now we have 8 to chose from.
