THE SPECTATOR AUSTRALIA-RECENT CRIME FICTION
Regular readers of this blog will know of my fondness for this magazine. It is essentially The Spectator UK with a 12 page section devoted to Australian matters, published at the same time in Australia as it is in the UK, at the excellent price of A$6.95 or NZ$7.95, and containing all those thoughtful and lengthy book revews for which the magazine has long been famous.
In the issue of 12 September their crime fiction reviewer (he has one of the best jobs in the world for my money) has his regular look at recent crime fiction which includes:
An Empty Death - Laura Wilson - Orion
The Dying Light - Henry Porter - Orion
A Visible Darkness - Michael Gregorio - Faber
Angel with Two Faces - Nicola Upson - Faber

There are a host of great reviews in this issue including:
The Man in the Wooden Hat by Jane Gardham - reviewed by Patrick Skene Catling
The Secret Lives of Somerset Maugham - reviewed by Juliet Townsend
Cleaving by Juliet Powell - reviewed by William Leith
Chalcot Crescent by Faw Weldon - reviewed by Molly Guiness
Juliet Naked by Nick Hornby - reviewed by Simon Baker
