Scholastic UK group m.d. Kate Wilson has left the company after four and a half years to "pursue other plans". Finance director Alan Hurcombe will take the role of acting group m.d. as of next week.
Wilson said: "I am immensely proud of the management team and staff at Scholastic, and know I couldn't leave the business in better hands. We have made great strides in our educational and children's publishing; reshaped and developed our book clubs and book fairs; launched new businesses; and made leaps in web-enabled marketing, selling and content-delivery.
"Together with the recruitment and development of the management team and other key staff across a wide range of specialisms, these achievements have been a source of tremendous satisfaction and learning for me, and have further built the Scholastic brand. I know that Alan's understanding of the businesses is unparalleled and I have every confidence in his leadership. I am excited about my own plans for the future, and will be communicating these in due course."
Scholastic c.e.o. Dick Robinson said Wilson's "legendary energy and drive" had helped Scholastic become a stronger company and he thanked her for "outstanding leadership".
