Harassment Files

The Washington Post reported another complaint against University of Virginia professor and National Book Award winner John Casey. Allegations against Casey first surfaced last November, when two students filed Title IX complaints with the university. The new complaint comes from Lisa Schievelbein, a former student of Casey's, who says he assaulted her in early 2001 and then on multiple occasions thereafter. Schievelbein told the Post, "In those subsequent assaults, he never asked for my consent and I did not provide it." Through an attorney, Casey responded that it was a "regrettable but entirely consensual extramarital affair."
