For young writers, we have a fantastic opportunity at the
University of Sheffield on 15th November 2017: an Orwell Youth
Prize workshop with author Marina Lewycka, followed by the Orwell
Lecture in the North with Grayson Perry.
Tickets are still available for the Orwell Lecture with A.L.
Kennedy at UCL on 21st November 2017, while there's exciting news
from the Word Factory who are launching the UK's first
festival dedicated to exploring literature and citizenship, Citizen: The New Story
10-12th November.

Orwell Lecture in the North with Grayson Perry
Turner prize winning artist Grayson
Perry: 'I've
ready all the academic texts on empathy'. The
event will take place on Wednesday,
15 November 2017 at 6.30pm in The Octagon Centre, University
of Sheffield, Clarkson Street, Sheffield.
This event is a joint venture between the University of Sheffield’s
Sir Bernard Crick Centre and The Orwell Foundation. Tickets here.

On the afternoon of the lecture The Orwell Youth
Prize is hosting a regional workshop with author Marina Lewycka (Two Caravans, A Short
History of Tractors in Ukrainian) at the
University of Sheffield. The provocative, participatory workshop is
aimed at students in yrs 12 & 13 interested in writing and
politics. Registration is free, but applications close
this Wednesday.
