Pan Macmillan and Waterstones are two of the biggest winners at this year's British Book Awards, aka The Nibbies, after being crowned Publisher of the Year and Book Retailer of the Year.
The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry
Sarah Perry’s The Essex Serpent (Serpent’s Tail) has won the British Book Awards accolade of Book of the Year, beating off strong competition from 36 shortlisted titles.
Former US president Bill Clinton and James Patterson are collaborating on a novel, publishing with Cornerstone, called The President is Missing
Francis Spufford has won the Royal Society of Literature’s £10,000 Ondaatje Prize for his debut novel Golden Hill (Faber).

Bloc Party lead singer Kele Okereke is set to perform at a Penguin Pride event in July celebrating the importance of literature in the progression of LGBT equality throughout history. It will also mark 50 years since the decriminalisation of homosexuality in England.

Minette Walters has moved to Atlantic Books for her first full novel in more than a decade set in Black Death-infested medieval England.
