All at New Holland are very saddened by this news, but relieved for
Don that the pain and discomfort of the past few months is over. We were proud
to have published at least half a dozen books with him, and several others that
he collaborated on, all produced with long-time publishing manager and close
associate, Renee Lang. His witty, self-photographed Farmyard Wisdom series sold
over 50,000 copies and found a receptive audience both here and abroad.
Don would always be the first author to write and thank us for his
royalties, no matter how small the amount. Most of his books with us have now
run their course, but it is with particular sadness that we note that he has
just missed what would have been the final statement for one of his books, due
to be mailed this week, even if his reply would most likely have been to thank
us for the funds to buy one sock!
Our deepest sympathies go out to Pat and the family.
