2010 quake book earns $50,000 for victims of the Christchurch quake

HarperCollins Publishers are pleased to announce that an interim donation of $50,000 has been sent to the Red Cross 2011 Earthquake Appeal.

The donation is made up from a percentage of the proceeds from the book Quake: The big Canterbury earthquake of 2010 written by Ian Stuart with photographs by David Wethey, together with contributions from booksellers who accepted a reduced margin on sales. The book has sold in excess of 30,000 copies since its publication in late October 2010.

HarperCollins will continue to accrue funds from the sale of Quake and pass them through to the Red Cross in due course.

HarperCollins would like to take this opportunity to thank booksellers for their support of the book and for their donations to the earthquake appeal.

The management and staff at HarperCollins send their condolences to all of the people in Christchurch who have experienced loss or damage in last week’s quake.
