The best Ladybird illustrations ever!
From the quite terrifying big bad wolf to brilliant buckle shoes, Sophy Henn, author and illustrator of Pom Pom Gets the Grumps, takes us on a whistle-stop tour of her favourite Ladybird book illustrations. - The Guardian
All the pictures in this gallery are taken from the book Ladybird by Design by Lawrence Zeegen
I loved Ladybird books, and revisiting them bought back many memories and a lot of fondness for those pocket size gems. Looking back over them, you can’t help but get such a strong sense of when they were created and their purpose. First stop is Look at This. I learned to read with Peter and Jane and this picture sums the books up perfectly. The utility blue, but cloudless, sky stretching out above two sensibly dressed and glowingly healthy children. Both gazing happily at a butterfly and seeing the joy in the everyday. Perfect!
