Tom Cruise will return for a new Jack Reacher film.
Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions' follow-up to the 2012 action-thriller will be based on Lee Child's new bestseller, Never Go Back, reports Deadline.
The book, which debuted in the autumn, sees Reacher return to his old military base for dinner with a friend who is now the installation's commanding officer.
By the time he arrives he finds that she has been arrested, and he is charged with assault and fathering a child, two acts he cannot recall but determines to get to the bottom of.
Cruise is expected to film Never Go Back after completing work on Mission: Impossible 5, which will begin shooting in Summer 2014.
The first trailer for his Edge of Tomorrow sci-fi action movie will be released later this week.
