New York — specifically Brooklyn, in the past decade or so — is lousy with writers. It feels like a hundred people get off the bus at Port Authority every day, pen and Moleskine in hand, look up at the New York Times Building across the street, and say, “I’ll make it into your Book Review — someday!” But since the literary world doesn’t need to revolve around New York, which gets more expensive by the week, Flavorwire has compiled a list of 20 cities that might be a better fit for some writers.
