Julian Assange's First Book To Be Released To The Trade

Press Release

OR Books, the independent internet-based publisher, today announces the forthcoming trade release of Cypherpunks: Freedom and the Future of the Internet by Julian Assange (with Jacob Appelbaum, Andy Müller-Maguhn and Jérémie Zimmermann).

Assange's first book, Cypherpunks is a riveting discussion of the politics of the internet from the front line of the battle for cyber-space. Oliver Stone has hailed the book as "gripping, vital reading" and John Pilger described it as a "warning to us all." Reviewing the book, BoingBoing's Cory Doctorow recently wrote: "There aren't many titles that pack as much argument, ambiguity and theory into as small a package as Cypherpunks. It's a book you can read in an hour or two, but you'll be thinking about it for years." The book has received substantial attention from The Guardian, the BBC, the New Statesman, the London Evening Standard, CNN and the New York Times.

OR Books uses a new publishing model, selling direct to readers over the internet. But, after extensive media coverage, demand for Cypherpunks has been so great that OR will make copies available for sale through bookshops, distributing to the trade through Turnaround Publisher Services. The book will appear in shops in mid-April.
