The Tuesday Poem

This week's Tuesday Poem is written by Michael McKimm from Northern Ireland and selected by Hinemoana Baker - newly returned to NZ from a residency in Iowa. Hinemoana says of the poem - a love poem centred around the image of a fish: The first lines of this poem caught me - the visual and taste image of the mountain of salt, then the texture of the fish takes me to a completely different, white-on-white place. I imagine the flesh of the fish not so much flaking as melting, like the butter.

The poems from the Tuesday Poem line-up of poets are from as far afield as NZ, Iceland and the United States. So from cod, to fantails, to an ash tree, to owls - and all in language designed to melt in the mouth, or catch in the throat.... And this week, Booksellers NZ joins with its own choice of Tuesday Poem.
