Poetry Comes Alive in Ponsonby on National Poetry Day
Awardwinning poet Anne Kennedy and local poet Bob Orr and guests will celebrate National Poetry Day 2010 – Friday 30 July – by bringing poetry alive in Three Lamps at Dymocks Ponsonby.

Share wine, nibbles and poems as Anne, Bob and their guests read and discuss their work from 2pm–3pm.

Anne Kennedy, a respected poet, novelist and critic, is the author of Time of the Giants and Sing-Song, both published by Auckland University Press, which won the Montana NZ Book Award for Poetry. She has just returned to New Zealand after some years living in Hawaii with her partner, poet Robert Sullivan, and their two children.

Bob Orr has lived in the Ponsonby / Grey Lynn for many years. A poet of the “Big Smoke” generation, he has published rarely: only seven collections of poems since the 1960s. His most recent book Calypso was published by Auckland University Press and features a specially designed cover by Waiheke artist Denis O’Connor.
