This year's Book Council Lecture will be given by
beloved children's author Joy Cowley at Te Marae, Te Papa on October 4.
In her warm and engaging talk The
Power of Story, Joy will draw on a lifetime’s experience of
inspiring children to read.
Entwining practical advice on how to spark a love for reading with her
thoughts on how the power of story can inspire lifelong learning and
critical thinking, she speaks to parents, educators and avid readers
alike.
You will receive a copy of The
Power of Story which has been published exclusively for
Book Council members.
The lecture will also appear on the Book Council website after the
event.
"We are honoured that Joy will deliver her messages in person, but
also that we’re able to produce a publication of her extended essay
that will be enjoyed widely for years to come," says Book Council
CEO Jo Cribb.
This year’s lecture will be held at on October 4, at 5.30pm at Te
Marae, Level 4, Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
