Laura Preston & Wystan Curnow in conversation

The Adam Art Gallery is pleased to host a discussion between
Berlin-based curator and editor Laura Preston and Auckland-based writer and
curator, Wystan Curnow.
Over the course of 2017 while based in Athens for
documenta 14, Preston began a written exchange <https://adamartgallery.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a8b0876daba1ecf121f0cd30e&id=27ce7580c2&e=c1e305c748> with Curnow in which they discussed their
relationship to art and place. In Wellington, they will continue this
conversation face-to-face, situating Luke Willis Thompson’s exhibition as an
encounter in their deep engagement with contemporary art.
Laura Preston (b.1978, Auckland) lives and works in
Berlin. She has edited and curated exhibitions and publications on contemporary
art in New Zealand and in Germany. She is currently writing an art history PhD
through the Institute for Art Theory and Cultural Studies at the Academy of
Fine Arts, Vienna. Recently she served as an associate editor for documenta 14.
Wystan Curnow (b.1939, Christchurch) is a widely
published art critic and poet. Curnow lives in Auckland where he is Emeritus
Professor at the University of Auckland. In 2014, his selected art writings,
The Critic's Part, was published by the Adam Art Gallery, Wellington and the
Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane. He has co-edited The Long Dream of Waking, a
collection of new writings on Len Lye which appeared this year from the
University of Canterbury Press.
