Fans of the late Kendrick Smithyman might like
to note a new long essay on his landscape poetry by Ian Richards, ‘Kendrick
Smithyman’s Shifting Landscapes’, with detailed commentaries on ‘Waikato
Railstop’, ‘Colville’, ‘Tomarata’, ‘Reading the Maps’ and
‘Deconstructing’. The essay should help shed some new light on some of
Smithyman’s often difficult and obscure poems.
