Crime Writing Festival

Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival

#BigRead2017
We are delighted to confirm that the 2017 Big Read title, run in association with the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival, has been confirmed as Ian Rankin’s Black and Blue.

Join us in our celebration of 30 years of Rebus prior to Rankin’s Special Guest appearance at the main festival in July. More information on his appearance is available here.

Black and Blue see’s Rebus juggling four cases trying to nail one killer – who might just lead back to the infamous Bible John. And he’s doing it under the scrutiny of an internal inquiry led by a man he has just accused of taking backhanders from Glasgow’s Mr Big.
As if this wasn’t enough, there are TV cameras at his back investigating a miscarriage of justice, making Rebus a criminal in the eyes of a million or more viewers. Just one mistake is likely to mean an unpleasant and not particularly speedy death or, worse still, losing his job.

The Festival’s Reader-In- Residence and bestselling crime author Mari Hannah will be touring libraries across the North of England and opening up the discussion through social media, inviting readers to discuss the novel and Rebus' 30 years!
