The House Judiciary Committee has backed the creation of an autonomous Copyright Office, just weeks after new Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden abruptly ousted Register of Copyrights Maria Pallante, who had strongly urged lawmakers to make just such a move toward U.S. copyright reform.

Mahoney to Succeed Jensen at Chronicle Books
