The Katikati Haiku Contest is open for entries and offering
cash prizes totalling
$175 in the senior section and $85 in the junior section thanks to Kings Seeds. All proceeds go to the Katikati Haiku Pathway project which is in the
process of adding two new poem boulders to its collection of 43. The pathway
opened with a karakia at dawn on January 1, 2000, one of this country’s
Millennium Projects.

free, online booklet, Learning to Write Haiku, produced by Katherine
Raine for the NZ Poetry Society, covers techniques, offers a lesson plan and
includes exemplar haiku by young people.
