Festival
Writing workshops, an Insult Joust
with Donovan Bixley, read-aloud stories, live performances of favourite New
Zealand books - and a birthday celebration for Joy Cowley are all part
of the programme on this year's festival.

Story Tour
Illustrators, authors and
storytellers descend on schools and the Vodafone Events Centre as part of the
2016 Storylines Festival StoryTour. Kids in classrooms around Auckland and
Northland get the opportunity to meet their local literary heroes, and ask them
about how they create the magic in their stories and illustrations. Read more. |

As the Festival
approaches, the workload ramps up and our hardworking co-ordinators
around the country welcome any offers of help. You can support the Festival
in advance by taking on some of the essential preparatory/promotional tasks -
or you can have enormous fun volunteering on the day. Read more here about how you can help in your centre. |

Congress is your opportunity to meet and hear some outstanding speakers.

programme updates
Roger Mello from Brazil
(2014 Hans Christian Andersen winner for illustration), and Zak Waipara,
illustrator for New Zealand’s International Book Day poster in 2008, are on a
panel of international illustrators. The Congress closing ceremony includes a
choral farewell written especially for the IBBY Congress, sung by Auckland
school choirs and narrated by Joy Cowley.Check the website for

Volunteer at IBBY
Congress
Would you like to be a
volunteer at the IBBY Congress 18-21 August, at the Aotea Centre, Auckland?
Volunteers will be able to attend sessions in the ASB auditorium when not on
duty. Send your name and days you are available, either before or during the
Congress to Helen Schwarcz (h.schwarcz@auckland.ac.nz). |
