READING PICTURES: WEEKEND GALLERY SERIES Held at the Auckland Art Gallery, the Festival's Weekend Gallery Series features six authors whose diverse interests are united by their shared fascination with visual texts. Te Papa curator Athol McCredie discusses the process of curating 200 years of NZ photography for his Ockham New Zealand Book Awards shortlisted title, New Zealand Photography Collected. Historian Jenny Haworth recounts how she together the stories and paintings of artists who recorded the horrors of WWI in her new book Behind The Twisted Wire. Sociologist Scott Hamilton surveys the history of Great South Road as "a route through time as well as space." Filmmaker and writer Roger Horrocks talks about Zizz, his biography of the renown New Zealand artist Len Lye.
