The 2016 Man Booker Prize: Key Dates

Publishers are reminded that the deadline for submissions for the 2016 Man Booker Prize for Fiction is Friday 4 March.

Other key dates for 2016 are:

  • Wednesday 27 July
The announcement of the 2016 longlist. This will be the third year that the £50,000 prize has been open to any writer, writing originally in English and published in the UK, irrespective of nationality.

The 12 or 13 titles – known as the ‘Booker Dozen’ – will be selected by the panel of five judges: Amanda Foreman (Chair), Jon Day, Abdulrazak Gurnah, David Harsent and Olivia Williams.

  • Tuesday 13 September
The announcement of the 2016 shortlist of six books. The shortlist will be announced at a morning press conference at Man Group, followed by an event at the Serpentine Gallery that evening. 

  • Tuesday 25 October 
The announcement of the 2016 winner at a ceremony on at London’s Guildhall.
