Trump adds, "I am excited to announce that work on my new bestseller is almost done.... Not since The Art of the Deal have I had this much fun writing a book." Nonetheless, the book sounds similar to Trump's last book, Time to Get Tough: Make America Great Again!, which Regnery published in 2011 -- when it had one week on the NYT extended hardcover list at No. 27 -- and just reissued less than a month ago in an updated version.
Threshold acquired world rights, from Byrd Leavell and Scott Waxman at Waxman Leavell Literary Agency and Bill Zanker at The Learning Annex. (Zanker had co-authored Trump's THINK BIG AND KICK BUTT -- IN BUSINESS AND LIFE, which was represented by Larry Kirshbaum, now at Waxman Leavell.)
In other forthcoming book news, Candlewick announced the title -- and released the jacket -- for two-time Newbery Medalist Kate DiCamillo's April 2016 release: RAYMIE NIGHTINGALE. They also announced a US first printing of 400,000 copies.
Open Road Integrated Media has hired Paul Slavin as president, starting immediately. Previously he was evp, ceo of Everyday Health, and before that spent 33 years at ABC News, most recently as svp, news media. Slavin will oversee day-to-day operations of Open Road, and reports to ceo Jane Friedman. (The previous top operations executive, chief operating officer Chris Davis, left the company in the spring.)
At the Book Industry Study Group (BISG)'s annual meeting on Friday, Fran Toolan of Firebrand was named with recipient of their Industry Champion Award.
At Yale University Press, Joe Calamia has been promoted to senior editor for science and technology; Sarah Miller will be editor for language, literature, and the performing arts; and Jaya Aninda Chatterjee moves up to associate editor for world history, geopolitics, and international relations.
