Beware technology, embrace obstacles, and stop to smell the pages

The First Word

We often feature a great deal of content about incorporating technology into our publishing and writing to reach a global market and share our work. We praise technology for these advantages.

But is more technology always better? Must we only care about where new technologies will take our writing careers?

Last month, Adam Gopnik wrote a piece for The New Yorker about the closing of the Parisian bookshop, La Hune, and it struck a chord. With the loss of brick and mortar bookshops, are we cutting out a visceral part of our cultural heritage?
