Irish Poet VONA GROARKE VISITS WELLINGTON


The IIML is delighted to host acclaimed Irish poet Vona Groarke who will be reading her poems and talking about her work, with Cliff Fell, at the City Gallery in Wellington.
The event is part of her visit to Victoria University's IIML where she will be conducting a master class for creative writing students on the MA and PhD programme.
One of Ireland's most versatile and gifted new generation poets, Vona Groarke is the author of six collections of poems. Her work has been noted for its powerful music and formal accomplishment, 'energised by uncertainties' and recognized with many prizes.
She teaches poetry in the Centre for New Writing at the University of Manchester in the UK and is the editor of Poetry Ireland Review. In 2015 she will be on the judging panel for New Zealand's Sarah Broom Poetry Prize.
While in New Zealand Groarke will also appear at the Auckland Writers Festival and the Dunedin Writers and Readers Festival.
