Five women on this year's shortlist for the £30,000 award
A British newcomer, 28-year old Rebecca F. John, who has yet to publish her first book, has been shortlisted for the Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award for her story The Glove Maker's Numbers. The shortlist for the £30,000 prize also includes five critically acclaimed international writers: American authors Elizabeth McCracken, Scott O'Connor and Yiyun Li (on the shortlist for the second time); New Zealander Paula Morris; and Canadian Madeleine Thien.
