Building on the success of his The New Zealand Wildlife Activity Book, popular illustrator Dave Gunson has created an entertaining collection of indoor and outdoor projects for New Zealand kids to learn about nature.
Colourful push-out masks and mobiles are
printed on the fold-out covers and simple construction skills are all that’s
required to create a range of nature-based activities, including a rainbow
diorama, a wind-whizzer, driftwood sculpture and a segmented creepy-crawly
critter.
There’s science fun to be had with the
(amazing) pet cloud and a tornado in a jar, tricky word puzzles to nut out, and
clever nature-themed jokes specially devised by Dave. Five levels of Zap the Map encourage kids to
locate New Zealand landmarks and natural phenomena on the map, with over 100
places illustrated.
Parents, teachers and librarians will
welcome the educational value of the many more activities, puzzles and quizzes
designed to keep children occupied for hours.
