What's On June 2014- Auckland Libraries

What's On June 2014

It was 50 years ago today
Almost 50 years ago on 21 June 1964, The Beatles touched down in Wellington for their only tour of New Zealand. For seven days, pandemonium reigned as normally reserved Kiwi teens went berserk for the Fab Four. On June 24 and 25 the band played two sold-out shows at the Auckland Town Hall. You can look back on this watershed moment in New Zealand cultural history by flicking through our eBook of the original tour programme or, if your thirst for nostalgia isn't sated, come along to an evening of reminiscences with Mike Chunn, musician and former member of Split Enz. It may all seem like Yesterday, but we can still Come Together and remember when Beatlemania rocked New Zealand!
