The candidates for the LA Times Book Prizes were announced on Wednesday morning, across 10 categories.
The winners will be named on April 11, just before the LA Times Festival of Books.
Author John Green will be presented with their Innovators Award "for his dynamic use of online media to entertain and engage," and Lannan Literary Prize winner Susan Straight will be given the Kirsch Award for lifetime achievement.
