Applications
for the Grimshaw Sargeson Fellowship 2014 close in just a few days.
Reflecting the name of its new sponsor
Grimshaw & Co, and in partnership with the Frank Sargeson Trust, the Grimshaw
Sargeson Fellowship offers published New Zealand writers tenure at the Sargeson
Centre in Auckland along with an annual $20,000 stipend.
The Sargeson Fellowship was established in
1987 to commemorate Frank Sargeson and provide assistance to New Zealand
writers. It offers outstanding writers the opportunity to write full-time, free
from financial pressure using the Sargeson Centre adjacent to the University of
Auckland.
Chair of the Sargeson Trust, Elizabeth Aitken
Rose, says “The Sargeson Fellowship has been an important feature in New
Zealand literary life for more than 25 years and has recognised and assisted
many of our leading writers.”
Applications are open to any published New
Zealand writer living either in New Zealand or overseas. Applications close Monday 13 January 2014 with tenure
starting 1 April 2014.
