John Harvey to appear as a Special Guest at the 2014 Festival


The Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival is delighted to announce that John Harvey will be appearing as a Special Guest at the 2014 Festival, interviewed by Mark Billingham. Taking place 17-20 July 2014 at the magnificent Old Swan Hotel, Harrogate, Programming Chair Steve Mosby has put together an astounding line-up, with John Harvey joining a stellar line-up of Special Guests including Ann Cleeves, Gillian Flynn, Sophie Hannah, Lynda LaPlante, Laura Lippman, Peter May, Steve Mosby and S. J. Watson.
Initially a teacher of English and Drama, the novelist John Harvey began writing in 1975, and now has over 100 published books to his credit, most recently a collection of short stories, A Darker Shade of Blue, and a novel, Good Bait (read on for more on this). The first of his celebrated Charlie Resnick novels, Lonely Hearts, was named by The Times as one of the 100 most notable crime novels of the last century. Flesh and Blood, the first of three Frank Elder novels, was awarded both the British Crime Writers’ Association Silver Dagger and the US Barry Award in 2004. In 2007 he received the CWA Cartier Diamond Dagger for Sustained Excellence in Crime Writing, and in 2009 he was made an honorary Doctor of Letters by the University of Nottingham.
The 12th (and final) Resnick novel, Darkness, Darkness, is to be published on 5 June 2014, so don’t miss this exclusive chance to see John live on stage to discuss his final installment to the brilliant Resnick series.
