Raworths Literature and Lecture Series 11- 14 July

Join Jeremy Bowen, Joanne Harris, Stuart Maconie and many more at the St George Hotel, Harrogate.

Need a break from Crime Fiction? Join us for the Raworths Literature and Lecture series, with events discussing everything from Austen to Fitzgerald, from Antarctica to the Middle East and from baking to book clubs. There is something for every one.

Author of the fabulous Chocolat, Joanne Harris MBE, will be discussing her new book, Peaches for Monsieur le Curé, which returns to Lansquenet for the third installment in this series. We will also be turning the Spotlight on Women's Fiction with best-selling authors Chrissie Manby, Harriet Evans and Polly Williams to discuss the future of the genre and ask if labels like 'Chick-lit' and 'Yummy Mummy' help or hinder booksales.

If classics are more your thing, we will be Celebrating Jane Austen to mark the 200th anniversary of Pride and Prejudice with Deborah Moggach (author of the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and the screenplay for the 2005 film of Pride and Prejudice starring Keira Knightley), Paula Byrne (author of The Real Jane Austen: A Life in Small Things) and Austen Academic Bharat Tandon. Sarah Churchwell and Alex Preston will be discussing The Legacies of the Great Gatsby as we explore one of the great American novels.
