The Printer in
Residence programme for 2013 will be a collaborative one, where three printers
– Tara McLeod (Pear Tree Press, Auckland), Rob Lamb (Gumtree Press, Oamaru) and
John Holmes (Frayed Frisket Press) will be working away in the Otakou Press
room, University of Otago Library, starting 1 July.
The 2013 PIR project is to
print typographic or image-based posters using quotations from the following NZ
writers: Riemke Ensing, Cilla McQueen, Charlotte Grimshaw, Emily Perkins,
Elizabeth Knox, Jenny Borchardt, Fiona Kidman, Bernadette Hall, and Emma Neale.
There will be a
selection process, with only six writers making the final cut. And only one
quote each. The six quotations will be a springboard for the printers’
creativity, and what is finally produced. Come 1 July, the magic of the process
will begin.
The set of six
will form a poster package, as yet untitled. Only 100 sets will be hand-printed
on Fabriano Rosapina paper. The cost of each set will probably be about
NZ$200.00 (incl gst).
