New BWB Texts from Maurice Gee, Rebecca Macfie, and Kathleen Jones

BWB Texts is a new short form digital imprint from award-winning publisher Bridget Williams Books. Commissioned as brief digital-only works, BWB Texts unlock diverse stories, insights and analysis from the best of our past, present and future New Zealand writing.

Following the launch of the imprint with the release of Paul Callaghan: Luminous Moments, new BWB Texts are released today from Maurice Gee, Rebecca Macfie (in association with the New Zealand Listener), and Kathleen Jones. More BWB Texts will be released regularly throughout 2013.

Creeks and Kitchens: A Childhood Memoir by Maurice Gee
Widely regarded as one of New Zealand's greatest fiction writers, Maurice Gee has written virtually no non-fiction. The exceptions are the two delightful childhood reminiscences combined here into a memoir in this BWB Text. For more information please visit: www.bwb.co.nz/books/creeks-and-kitchens

Report from Christchurch by Rebecca Macfie
Written over a period of two years, Rebecca Macfie's searing account of the Christchurch earthquakes traces the city's struggle to recover from the disaster and plan for the future. Published in association with the New Zealand Listener, with a foreword by Pamela Stirling. For more information please visit: www.bwb.co.nz/books/report-from-christchurch

‘I think … I am going to die.’: Katherine Mansfield at Fontainebleau by Kathleen Jones
This stunning chapter from Kathleen Jones's biography Katherine Mansfield: The Story-teller (2010) describes Mansfield's last days and death at chateau near Paris, the centre of a spiritual movement led by the mysterious Russian philosopher-mystic Georges Gurdjieff. For more information please visit: www.bwb.co.nz/books/i-think-i-am-going-to-die
