Don McGlashan in Devonport |
Songwriter, singer, musician, composer, poetical lyricist….Don
McGlashan has provided the sound track for a generation of New Zealanders.
He has been in bands such as The Plague, From Scratch, The
Whizz Kids, Blam Blam Blam, The Front Lawn, The Mutton Birds, The Bellbirds,
written for Limbs Dance Company and won numerous awards for his music, songs
and film scores. Songs such as Dominion
Road, Anchor
Me and
Bathe in the River have become anthems for our major events.
Don is now embarked on a solo career and he has held the
Summer Residency at the Michael King Writers’ Centre this year, his second
major literary award.
To mark the end of his residency, Don will talk (and sing)
about his life and work, a journey from Dominion Road to Devonport via the
world stage.
