Bloomsbury plans Royal Baby book

28.01.13 | Charlotte Williams - The Bookseller

Bloomsbury Children's Books is among the first to break cover over its plans to publish a royal baby title, with a picture book featuring a parachuting Queen planned for July.

Shh! Don't Wake the Royal Baby by Martha Mumford and Ada Grey will be released in paperback and e-book, with Bloomsbury having acquired world rights directly from Mumford, and via Grey's agent Vicki Willden-Lebrecht at The Bright Agency. Both editions will be £6.99.
The book follows the royal family as they try everything to pacify the new baby, who just won't go to sleep, from proffering the golden royal dummy, to parachute jumps from the Queen.

Editorial director, illustrated publishing, Emma Blackburn said the book had come together "at short notice", and said the royal family had become a more popular topic after the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, as well as William and Kate's marriage and baby news.
The new addition to the royal family is expected in July.
