WELLINGTON WRITERS WALK GOES GLOBAL

The Wellington Writers Walk will transport itself to the Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2012, when large decals of the quotations taken from the iconic Wellington Writers Walk will magically appear alongside the River Main in Frankfurt.

New Zealand is to be the Guest of Honour at the Fair for 2012, a book event that is considered to be one of the most prestigious in the world. The featured quotations are by the nineteen New Zealand writers who currently appear on sculptures around Wellington waterfront, which include James K Baxter, Katherine Mansfield, Michael King, Bill Manhire, Vincent O’Sullivan, Sam Hunt, Fiona Kidman, Marilyn Duckworth and many more.

QR codes on the Frankfurt decals will enable those with smart phones to instantly access the German version of the new Wellington Writers Walk website. The web site, created and sponsored by Clemenger BBDO, was translated into German with the help of a grant from the Ministry for Culture and Heritage.
