Two huge interlocked treehouses are being planned by Harry Potter author JK Rowling for her garden in Edinburgh. The multi-millionaire's husband Dr Neil Murray has applied for planning permission to build the huge structure in the grounds of their home in Barnton.
The application said the tree houses were for their children to play in.
It is understood the tree houses, which would be built by Blue Forest, would cost £150,000.
Rowling has three children. She has an 18-year-old daughter and a son and daughter aged nine and seven.
If the 40ft (12m), two-storey buildings gain planning permission they will be built in the garden of her mansion.
Artist impressions of the tree houses show they would be connected by a rope bridge.
Both tree houses would have turrets on the side and look a bit like Hogwarts from her Harry Potter books. Also included are lanterns above the doors, balconies and carvings. They would be built on wooden stilts.
It would also have a spiral staircase and a trapdoor with rope ladder. The roof would have cedar shingle tiles and nature boxes for birds to nest in. The application said the tree houses would be "screened from view by an existing mature cypress hedge, boundary wall and security screen fence".

A Blue Forest spokesman said they were unable to comment.
Edinburgh City Council said it is now considering the application.

  1. What a wonderful creation. When I was a kid my father built a little three house for me in order to play with my playmates. I suddenly remembered it when I saw your post. Thank you.
