Jeffers, first-ever New Zealand public event has now sold out
Critically acclaimed picture book creator Oliver Jeffers will take part
in his first-ever public New Zealand event in Wellington on Tuesday 8 May.
Demand for tickets to see this rising star has been phenomenal and this event
is now sold out.
Jeffers
will also be participating in several events at the Auckland Writers and
Readers Festival. On Saturday 12 May he will be doing an event for families,
in which he will draw live onstage, supported by storyteller and comic
strip artist Dylan Horrocks, speak about his books and answer questions from
the audience. This will
be Oliver’s one and only public event for children and adults in Auckland during
this tour and tickets are still available.
Oliver Jeffers is an artist and award-winning picture book creator who
was first published by Harper Collins in 2004. Since then he has gone on
to sell nearly a million picture books in 19 languages.
Jeffers has won almost every major award in the UK, including the BBC
Blue Peter Book of The Year Award, Nestle Gold Medal Award, Irish Children’s
Book of the Year and has been shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Award.
To date Jeffers has published eight picture books, including the
critically acclaimed Lost and Found and The Heart and the Bottle,
and most recently Stuck, the laugh-out-loud story about what happens
when a young boy gets his kite stuck in the tree.
Jeffers is a founding member of the OAR collective, he has exhibited his
work in galleries all over the world including the US, Chile, Ireland and
Australia, and most significantly the National Portrait Gallery in London, he’s
illustrated for magazines, illustrated the headquarters of major global
corporations and designed album covers.
