Lee Child is the most successful British Kindle book author worldwide, followed by Stephen Leather and Ken Follett, according to Amazon UK.The company has released a list of the top-10 bestselling UK-born Kindle e-book authors, based on purchases from 1st January 2011 onwards in the US, UK, France, Spain and Italy.
Self-publishing author Kerry Wilkinson, who has just been signed up by Pan Macmillan in a six-book deal, is number 10 on the bestselling Kindle list. Leather also published most of his books using the Kindle Publishing Direct tool.
After Child, Leather and Follet, the bestselling authors in order are: Agatha Christie, Terry Pratchett, David Nicholls, Sophie Kinsella, Scott Mariani, Jane Austen and Wilkinson.
Gordon Willoughby, director of Kindle EU, said: “British authors have captured the imagination of millions of Kindle readers around the world with classic novelists appearing alongside independently published authors, as well as a number of 21st-century literary stars.
