Entries sought in search for New Zealand’s Best Books

Entries open today for the nation’s most prestigious book awards: the New Zealand Post Children’s Book Awards and the New Zealand Post Book Awards 2012.
More than 2,000 entries are expected, from emerging and experienced authors across the country, but just a few will make it to the final shortlist.
Together the two awards reflect the diversity, depth, colour and flair of contemporary New Zealand writing.
Both awards have New Zealand Post as their principal sponsor. Brian Roche, the chief executive of Post, says 2011 is a milestone year for that sponsorship; “For fifteen years we’ve been proud to support the Children’s Book Awards,  and this will also be the third year we’ve sponsored the adult book awards.
“New Zealand authors offer readers rich and exciting worlds to explore, and we’re pleased to encourage their endeavours.
”These awards encourage readers and writers alike, and recognise the diverse vein of creativity which exists in this country,” Brian Roche said.
