Foyles to open City of London 'booktique'

04.10.10 - Victoria Gallagher - The Bookseller

Foyles is to open a 'booktique' shop at the end of the month, the fifth Foyles bookshop to open in the capital.

The new shop will open at the new retail hub One New Change near St Paul's cathedral on 28th October. The store will have over 6,000 titles in 1,300 sq ft of retail space. Customers will also be able to order from the range of titles in stock at Foyles on Charing Cross Road and the books will be delivered to the shop for same-day collection.

Chief executive Sam Husain said: "We are excited to offer book lovers the opportunity to experience Foyles' friendly and welcoming service in this new location. As well as a wide range of titles, and a bespoke ordering service, customers will be able to ask for advice and recommendation from experienced Foyles staff whether their purchase is for themselves or a gift."

The operations team, Tom Nind and Eoin OReilly, will be responsible for planning the set-up and management of the shop.

Martha Carson, head of marketing at One New Change, said: "One New Change is set to bring a whole new shopping and dining experience to the City of London - something we are delighted Foyles will be a part of. By opening seven days a week we are changing people's perceptions of the City and creating a new destination where the area's rich culture can also be enjoyed by Londoners and tourists alike. Much-loved retailers such as Foyles continue to enhance that opportunity."

Last month Foyles reported that its operating profit had increased five-fold in the last year (to 30th June) to just under half a million pounds.
