Yes, Apple is Announcing the iPad Right Now
The "third-category" device runs the iPhone OS, has a virtual keyboard, can be turned sideways, and includes ebooks, newspapers (the demo is the NYT) movies and tv, songs, etc. and can run all iPhone apps unmodified, out of the box--but if you use the new SDK, you can modify your apps to optimize them for the pad.
It's 1.5 pounds, half an inch thick, has bluetooth and wifi and promises 10 hours of battery life. Price, release date and more on the ebooks still to come...
